The Luncheon Dress

Hi everyone. I hope things are well with you. I love Spring, it is my favorite season. To me spring symbolizes a new beginning, the opportunity to start over again. There has been so many times in my life where I wish that I could just start back from the beginning.

I work in the Children’s Ministry at church, and today all of the church’s assistants were invited to a luncheon as a show of appreciation. I had nothing in my closet that I really cared to wear, so I made a new dress. I went to Joann’s and found this beautiful floral print fabric that just screamed ladies who lunch. The fabric was $10 a yard, but I had a 50% off coupon as well as a 40% off coupon, which brought my total for the 2 1/2 yards of fabric and a zipper to a little over $15.

Pattern Used: I used McCalls MP201 (B) for the bodice and I gathered the skirt part of the fabric.

Pattern Alterations: I only used the bodice pattern and I lengthened the sleeves by about 2 1/2 inches. Instead of completely lining the bodice, I just created a neck facing to ensure a clean finish to the neckline. I also added pockets, because I love a dress with pockets.

Pattern Review: I love this pattern, even though I just used the bodice for this dress, I plan on making another dress and using the full pattern next time. The instructions were very easy to understand.

This is by far my most favorite thing that I’ve sewn. I will be wearing this dress until it fades, lol. Thank you all for taking the time to read my blog, have an awesomely blessed day.
