Sewing My New Look Pattern 6575 Tunic

Y’all… I sewed this entire tunic in one day! 🙌🏾

That might not sound like a big deal, but for me—it absolutely is. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to sit in my sewing room, zone out, and actually finish a project in a day. My focus just hasn’t been there lately. But baby, when I tell you that passion came back in full swing—yes, Lord! I felt like me again at that sewing machine.

Let’s talk about the pattern…

I used New Look 6575, and this pattern is giving everything it needs to give. It’s a tunic pattern with beautiful flow and ease. The construction is simple, the fit is forgiving, and I didn’t need to do any complicated adjustments. I made View B, and it truly was an easy sew.

Now, here’s the best part—because I’m 5’3”, this tunic is long enough on me to double as a dress. You already know I love a piece I can wear multiple ways. Throw it on with sandals and show some leg or pair it with jeans and wedges for a comfy cute look. That’s the kind of versatility I live for!

Fabric Details

This vibrant floral fabric is a linen-like blend I snagged (well… technically my friend snagged) from Jo-Ann. Huge shout out to my sweet friend Brittany J Jones for picking it up for me from her local Jo-Ann, because mine was picked over. Good friends help friends find fabric—can I get an amen?! 😂

And you know what made it even sweeter? I had just enough fabric left to squeeze out an Ogden cami! If you’ve been following me, you already know the Ogden is my go-to when I have a yard or less. It’s quick, it’s cute, and let’s be honest—can you ever really have too many camis? I don’t think so!

Sewing Details

I stitched this beauty up on my Baby Lock Bloom sewing machine—and let me tell you, she bloomed right along with me on this project! 🌸 The ease, precision, and smooth stitching of the Bloom made the process feel like pure joy. From clean seam finishes to that drawstring casing, it handled every detail like a dream. When I needed that balance of simplicity and reliability, my Bloom showed up and did what she does best—deliver!

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been in a sewing slump, I totally get it. Life happens. But let me encourage you—sometimes all it takes is a simple project to reignite that spark. This tunic did that for me, and I’m so grateful I gave myself the space to just sit, sew, and breathe again.

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned sewist looking for something quick and satisfying, I highly recommend giving New Look 6575 a try. Easy, breezy, and totally cute!

Scripture for the Week

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

Here’s your reminder: don’t give up on the things that bring you joy. Even if you’ve stepped away for a bit. God’s got a way of reviving what you thought was fading.
