I was introduced to sewing by a neighbor and family friend when I was about nine or ten. I learned how to hand sew clothes for my Barbie dolls, and although I enjoyed it, I didn't stick with it as I got older. However, I did use what I learned to hem an mend a few things when needed.

Fast forward to 2012, at this time I am a wife, mother, and Army veteran. I got back into sewing as a way to cope with my anxiety and depression. Without any formal training, I picked up my skills by watching YouTube videos and other online sewing resources such as Sew It Academy. My newfound sewing skills have even helped to clothe my children during a financially difficult time in our life.

In 2014 I started a custom clothing business, designing and sewing formal wear and cocktail attire for clients. Unfortunately, I had to close the business in 2016, but I found solace and healing in sewing and decided to start my blog in 2017 to encourage others to use sewing as a way to explore their creativity and promote their own mental health.

Over the years through blogging and creating content on my YouTube channel and on social media, I have been blessed with many opportunities. I have collaborated with sewing and non-sewing brands to help market their products. I have been featured in and created editorials for a few magazines from Sewn Magazine to Simply Sewing magazine. I have created video content for Sew It Academy, where I am also employed. I am also an ambassador for Baby Lock Sewing, and have had my embroidery design featured in their book. All in all, sewing has not only been a part of my healing journey, it has opened many doors for me. for that I give God the glory for blessing me with this gift.

My mission is to show the world that sewing is more than just needle and thread. It is art, it is an escape for many who struggle with mental illness. It is a form of self expression. It is a passion that can not be explained, only shown. I hope to inspire more people to discover sewing and fall in love with it as much as I have.

I am a Jamaican born, American raised a believer in Jesus Christ, a wife, and a mom. I love spending time with my husband and kids, as well as a few dear friends. Outside of sewing I am a leader in the kids and youth ministry at my church, which is another passion of mine. When I am not sewing or working, I love watching Marvel movies and Transformers, as well as a good romantic tear jerker.

Welcome to my blog. I am looking forward to sharing my journey and inspiring you along the way.
