What's Happening: Life update

Hello everyone, I hope this post finds you all in good health and high spirits. It's been a whirlwind of events since my last blog post, and it has caused me to be MIA on here. Let me share with you the latest happenings in my life. Let's catch up!

A New Chapter in Education: Homeschooling Adventures

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know my son has embarked on a new educational journey – homeschooling. He is enrolled in a hybrid program where he attends school on campus once a week and homeschools the other four days. The decision to take on this role as his at-home teacher has been both rewarding and demanding. Balancing my responsibilities as a parent and a teacher has undoubtedly been a learning curve, but witnessing his growth firsthand has made it all worthwhile. Some days are more fun than others, because, at the end of the day, I have to be strict with his schoolwork, and make sure he stays on task, which is the less than fun part. From daily assignments, driving him to and from school once a week about 40 minutes away, to having to proctor his weekly exams, it has been challenging, especially the first couple of weeks. We have been getting better acclimated to our new way of life, and trying to change his public school mindset, because this program calls for him to be more independent, organized, and task-oriented, because there are no teachers standing over him watching his every move. We have been doing better each day, and now we have a working schedule. We are making sure to take time for fun by taking little field trips occasionally for lunch to new spots we have on our "foodie try list." Each day brings a new adventure, but we tackle it together.

Marching to the Beat: Daughter's Color Guard Journey

Speaking of adventures, my daughter has stepped onto the vibrant path of the color guard team at her high school. Her commitment, dedication, and the sheer joy she exudes while twirling those flags, tossing that rifle, and dancing to the rhythm fills me with so much pride. The camaraderie she's building with her teammates and the life lessons she's learning are shaping her into a confident and more resilient young woman. I have seen her grow so much in the last few months, and I just know she will do amazing things from this point out. I sometimes look at her with her friends as they walk to the car during pickup giggling, and smiling, because I remember not too long ago, she was very reclusive, not wanting to go anywhere or do anything, and now she is standing between two teammates being awarded as the color guard member of the week. To say I am proud is an understatement. Her new journey keeps us busy, but to see the difference it is making in her life is so worth it.

Navigating the Path of Health: Endometriosis and Tough Decisions

Life has its way of throwing challenges our way, and my battle with endometriosis continues to be a significant one. I have been to so many specialists, that I am starting to forget which doctor did and said what. I did surprisingly get the best advice from a doctor at the VA (If you've ever had to receive treatment from the VA or know someone who has, you understand). She told me that there are so many options available now vs. a few years ago, and that before I let anyone perform surgery on me. She said to make sure I have exhausted all of my options before making such a permanent decision as removing my uterus. There are people who have removed their uterus, and the endometriosis came back even more painful, and there are other complications that can arise as well. The constant struggle between opting for surgery or exploring alternative treatments has consumed much of my thoughts. The pain has at times felt overpowering, dictating my days and even my nights. Yet, amidst this trial, I find solace in God showing me that I'm not alone. Many of you have reached out with your own stories, and your support has been a beacon of strength guiding me through the storm. Thank you.

Stepping into Wellness: My Fitness Journey Unveiled

This month has seen a new chapter unfold in my life – my commitment to my own well-being. With a determined spirit, I embarked on a challenge to walk as much as possible. While there have been a few missed days here and there, I'm celebrating my consistency and the progress I've made. It's fascinating how setting challenges for ourselves can light a fire within us and help us stay focused on our goals. Every step I take is a declaration of self-care, and I'm excited to see where this journey leads. Next month, I am challenging myself to add strength training and cardio to my walking journey. My Peloton has some classes and programs to keep on track, so I am excited.

A Sewn Journey: 2023 Birthday Collection

Amidst the chaos of life's challenges, I'm embracing the creative outlet that has always brought me much joy – sewing. With my birthday just around the corner on September 13th, I've channeled my "sewjo" into creating my 2023 birthday collection. The upcoming collection has brought me so much joy to create. Each stitch is a testament to the resilience that resides within us. I could've decided to skip my yearly tradition this year, but nope, I needed to push myself to get it done. I think this is the most me collection I have ever sewn, each piece matches my simple and casual style but also reflects the inner diva within. My birthday dress this year will be one for the books. The fabric is definitely the star. I can not wait to share.

BIG NEWS

Venturing into New Horizons: From Idea to LLC

In the midst of life's challenges and triumphs, I've decided to breathe life into a long-held idea that's been brewing in my head since 2020. I've taken the leap and created my LLC, ushering in a new venture. This step into the unknown although scary, is a testament to the power of pursuing our dreams, even when faced with uncertainty.

As you all know, I love to uplift and encourage others through words and stories. Naturally, I had the desire to put those words onto something that will uplift you every time you or anyone else sees it, and so, I kicked imposter syndrome's butt and started a line of inspirational items starting with t-shirts. I had to remind myself that though there a many out there selling t-shirts, none of them are mine. I am so excited about this venture. God did not place this idea in my head for me to leave it there. I will be sharing more information on the t-shirts and other things to come as I introduce you all to my new brand "Minding My Purpose." Please follow the Instagram page for uplifting and inspiring messages of hope and empowerment to turn your pain into purpose.

I once asked myself what I want people to remember about me when I die, and the answer to that is, I want people to remember my words. I want them to remember how I used my words to uplift and inspire them. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.” We choose whether we use our words to heal or to kill, I want to heal as many as possible, because the healing words of God and those whom He has placed around me to take me from the darkness I found myself in years ago into the light, has truly shown me the importance of being a light. The importance of finding your purpose in this world.

In this chapter of my life, I find comfort in the words of Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."No matter what I am going through or where I am, God is always with me holding me together.

Thank you for being part of my journey, and for your unwavering support and encouragement. Let's continue to inspire one another, embrace each challenge we face as an opportunity, and stay busy minding our purpose.
