Hello everyone. I hope all is well with you. I have been sewing like crazy lately, I think that I have truly gotten better at organizing my schedule. I am back in the workforce, and adding that to being a wife and mom means for not much time to do the extracurricular activities that I enjoy. I now keep a schedule book and make sure to write down everything that needs to be done as well as things that I want to do, and surprisingly it has been working out well.
This week I decided to make a circle dress because I have found myself wanting to wear dresses more and more since I have been sewing. Sewing gives me full control over the fabric, the cut, and the length. Shopping at department stores gives me ultimatums, I can only have what they offer. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with department stores, I still shop there, I just love the freedom that sewing gives me. I found this black and white knit fabric at a fabric wholesale warehouse in Atlanta and I fell in love with the pring. I knew right a way that I wanted to make a dress with a really unique bodice.
Pattern Used: I used Simplicity 1613 for the bodice of the dress.
Pattern Alterations: The only alteration that I made to the pattern was instead of making a top as the pattern was made for, I decided to turn it into a dress.
Pattern Review: I love this pattern, there are so many different top choices and I can’t wait to use it again. I think that I will be making the off the shoulder top next time, or maybe I will use it to make another dress.
I am so thrilled to make more clothes, because every year I get rid of most of mine and my family’s clothes and donate them to the church and other organizations that will give to those in need, therefore, my closet is looking a bit empty for summer. Thank you all very much for taking the time to read my blog. Have an awesomely blessed day.
